"In 2027, the conflict in Eastern Europe had spread to the entire old continent, and seen the Russian-Asian axis clash against the E U NATO coalition, in battles so deadly that the contingents of age to fight had reached extinction. Gradually, combat units on both sides, made up of increasingly sophisticated infantry robots and aerial drones, had ended up replacing the decimated human troops. Intelligent machines capable of self-repairing when hit, returning to battle in record time. The 4th World War had turned into an ongoing confrontation that had grown out of control by humans, between armies of machines competing in technological prowess and ultra-complex strategies. The war of the drones. It seemded like it could go on forever."
